The Season of Change

Where the Weather Comes Alive

by Zoey G.

There’s something magical about this time of year. The air changes first,  softer, cooler, like the world is taking a deep breath after summer’s heat. Leaves trade their greens for golds and reds, and the sky paints itself in new moods every day – one minute calm and blue, the next mysterious and grey. You can almost feel the Earth turning the page.

What’s wild is how the weather changes us, too. No matter where you’re from, whether your world stays hot all year or your winters bite like frost, there’s a moment when nature seems to whisper, “slow down.” We feel it in our bones. We pull back a little, spend more time inside, light candles, cook warmer meals, and watch the wind dance with the trees outside our windows.

And then, just when we’ve settled into the quiet, the world surprises us again. The sun comes back stronger. The air softens. You see more people walking around, laughing, talking, living again. Parks fill with kids and pets, the sound of life echoing through the open air. It’s like watching the planet wake up – and somehow, it wakes something in us, too.

Even then, the world keeps showing off – blooming, changing, reminding us that nothing stays frozen forever.

That’s the lesson the weather teaches if you listen closely enough: we are all part of this constant cycle of shifting, breaking, rebuilding, and shining again.

October is that in-between space, where summer’s laughter fades but winter hasn’t yet spoken. It’s the season of reflection, of learning to find comfort in change. You can smell woodsmoke in the distance, see your breath in the morning, and still feel that spark of warmth somewhere inside. Because no matter how cold it gets, life always finds a way to come back.

So take a moment – look out your window, breathe in that crisp air, and realize this: the weather outside isn’t just changing. It’s showing you that you can change too.

Every person you see, every place you go, they’re all going through their own “season.” Some are blooming, some are resting, some are rebuilding after a storm. And that’s the beauty of it all: no matter where you are or who you are, the weather reminds us we’re never stuck. We’re just in transition.

So, what season feels most like you right now?
